How to save videos from X (Twitter) to your phone
Most people use X on their phone. So when you want to keep a video from X, you want it in the same place as your other videos: the Photos app on an iPhone or the Gallery on Android. This guide is just for phones. It shows you how to download Twitter videos and put them right where you can find them.
What you need
- The X app, or X open in your browser
- Chrome on Android, or Safari on iPhone
- A bit of free space on your phone
On Android: X video to Gallery
- In the X app, find the post with the video. Tap the share icon, then Copy link.
- Open Chrome and go to our Twitter video downloader.
- Tap the box at the top and choose Paste.
- Tap the spinning globe. Wait a few seconds.
- Choose 720p for a good balance of quality and size.
- Tap Download Now.
When it finishes, Chrome shows a small message at the bottom. The video is in your Download folder. Most Android phones also show it in Gallery or Google Photos under Downloads within a minute.
On iPhone: X video to Photos
- In the X app, tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link.
- Open Safari and go to our Twitter video downloader.
- Paste the link into the box and tap the globe.
- Pick a quality and tap Download Now. Safari may ask "Do you want to download this file?" Tap Download.
- Tap the small blue arrow in the Safari address bar, then tap the video.
- Tap the share icon and choose Save Video.
Now the video is in your Photos app, next to your own videos.
Pick the right size for your phone
| Quality | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| 360p or 480p | Your phone is almost full, or you will only watch on a small screen |
| 720p | The best choice for most phones |
| 1080p | You will show it on a TV or edit it later |
A one-minute X video at 720p is usually only a few megabytes, so you can save many of them.
Tips to keep your phone tidy
- Make an album called "Saved from X" and move videos there, so they do not get lost between your photos.
- Delete the copy in Files on iPhone after you save it to Photos. Otherwise it takes space twice.
- On Android, clean the Download folder once a month.
When it does not work
- Make sure you copied the link to the post, not to a profile.
- Protected accounts and deleted posts cannot be downloaded.
- If the post only quotes another post, open the original one and copy its link.
For more detail, including computers and GIFs, read our full guide on how to download videos from X. You can save videos from other apps the same way with our TikTok downloader or Facebook downloader.
Share fairly
If you share a saved video with friends, say where it came from. Posting someone else's video on your own account as if you made it can break X's rules. You can read them in the X Help Center.
Quick summary
Copy the post link in the X app, paste it into our downloader in Chrome or Safari, tap the globe, choose 720p and tap Download Now. On iPhone, open the file and tap Save Video to move it into Photos.
