Every YouTube video has a thumbnail, the picture you see before you press play. SnapVideoDL's YouTube thumbnail downloader shows all sizes of that picture and lets you save each one as a JPG file: HD 1280×720, SD 640×480 and smaller versions.
It is useful for your own channel, for planning a video, or for a presentation about a video. Paste a normal YouTube link, a youtu.be link or a Shorts link. Want the video itself? Use our YouTube downloader.

Frequently asked questions
How do I download a YouTube thumbnail?
Paste the video link into the box on this page and click Get thumbnails. Under each size you will see a Download JPG button. Press it to save the image.
Why is there no HD version for some videos?
YouTube only creates the 1280×720 version when the uploader provides a large enough image or video. Older or low-resolution videos may only have SD and smaller sizes.
Does it work with YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Paste the Shorts link and you get the thumbnail sizes YouTube has for it. YouTube usually stores Shorts thumbnails in landscape (16:9) format, sometimes with dark bars on the sides.
Can I use someone else's thumbnail?
Thumbnails belong to the channel that made them. Use them for reference or for your own videos only. Do not use another creator's thumbnail as your own without permission.
